Cluster Flies and Rodents

This has been a busy start to the cluster fly season. There were very few last year because the ground was so wet. With better weather this year the flies have been breeding well and are now presenting a serious problem. It is not that they are dangerous, dirty or otherwise, merely that they can be present in vast numbers. These flies lay eggs in grassland and the larvae feed on earthworms. When they mature, they pupate back into the fly and this goes on all year until the weather gets colder when the flies need shelter. We have been dealing with these all over the County since the fist week in October. We have a residual insecticide which, when sprayed on window frames, stops the flies getting in this way. We set smoke bombs off in lofts to deal with them there and have supplied a lot of fly machines which really is the only permanent way to deal with them. We supply one for small lofts for just £50  and progressively larger ones up to £100 which will deal with a large loft space. The only requirement for these is an electric socket in the loft.

Rats and mice or the other main problems at present plus the odd flea, bed bug and moth jobs and the occasional mole trapping or gassing job. Still plenty of variety to keep us interested.
